Challenge

Building on the existing logo and corporate identity, our task was to update the various design elements—particularly the logo, typography, and colors—to reflect contemporary tastes. All elements needed to work equally well across a range of applications, both print and digital. The new corporate identity also needed to appeal to various target audiences, including potential customers and job applicants.

Design

The colors, particularly the bright orange and shades of black, are inspired by the colors of classic construction equipment and construction site vehicles, as well as the bright warning colors of the equipment.

Overall, the design should have a strong, rugged, and eye-catching look while incorporating various elements of the “construction site” theme.

Fonts & Shapes

The newly designed angular “I” in the new wordmark—inspired by the other glyphs in the Replica LL wordmark—gives rise to several patterns that evoke the tracks left by construction vehicles and the patterns of caution tape. These new patterns can be used both as graphic elements and as photo masks in all applications.

The typography of the Replica LL stands out in particular for its bold, angular characters
